ABOUT
Jesús Luzardo and Colton Welker knew they wanted to make a difference in the community that molded and shaped them into the players and people they are today.
There was no way better, in their eyes, than to teach the young players of Parkland and Broward County the fundamentals and principles that have refined their craft of baseball.
During their time at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School they excelled on the baseball field. Both committed to the university of Miami to play collegiately, they chose a different path after being selected in the 2016 MLB DrAFT.
both were regarded as highly touted prospects through their minor league careers. With Jesús making his MLB debut in 2019 at 21 years old with the oakland athletics and Colton in 2021 at 23 with the colorado rockies.
As they’ve grown in their careers and as role models, they formed the idea for the Luzardo & Welker baseball clinic. An annual event where the two stars teach the fundamentals of fielding, hitting, pitching, & baserunning, The central tenets of the game they love and the foundational blocks for the proper development of players.
The event has had enormous success drawing dozens of young players annually from the community.
Former Mayor of Parkland & Broward, Michael Udine, proclaimed January 29th as Jesús Luzardo and Colton Welker day for their achievements within the Broward community.
